Shepparton double

Shepparton double

Promising youngster Ilikemebettor and four-year-old mare Corsini, who won the opening two races at Shepparton on Wednesday (June 26), were both bred and reared at Benstud Standardbreds.

Ilikemebettor, who won for the second time, settled down a conspicuous last before working forward to lead the outside division in the middle stages.

The colt gobbled up the leaders in the home straight to win comfortably by 3.3 metres.

The mile rate for the 2190 metres was 2:00.1 with the last 800 in 57.5.

Ilikemebettor is the first foal of Arty Chick NZ, an Art Major mare which is being bred from by Benstud Standardbreds.

Corsini, a lightly raced mare, raced four deep on the marker pegs most of the way before gaining racing room nearing the home bend.  Switched the outside, the mare flooded home to post her second success.

She rated a career-best 1:59.6 for the 2190 metres.

Bred by Benstud client Harvey Kaplan, Corsini is the first offspring of Upton (by American Ideal).
