Promising three-year-old Rossini, who was bred and raised at Benstud Standardbreds, notched his second win at Shepparton on Wednesday night (April 3).

Starting from the No 6 gate, the gelding was trapped wide early before working up to face the breeze and then gaining cover at the 1000 metre mark.

Tipped three-wide on the home turn, Rossini let down with a powerful burst to gobble up the leaders and career away to win by 6.3 metres.

The mile rate for the 2190 metres was 2:00.4.

Bred by Harvey Kaplan, the gelding is the first foal of Miss Fantastic NZ, a winning Falcon Seelster mare. He is owned by Ian and Kath Sutherland and trained by Keith Cotchin. Congratulations.
