The Judd family have been breeding and racing standardbreds with great success for more than 15 years, Peter, Judy and son Craig & his wife Renee took over the former ‘Lynrose Stud’ in 2007 and renaming it Benstud Standardbreds. Peter and Judy's daughter Tracey and her husband Mark and family joined the Benstud band in 2015 and with the business ever increasing in numbers saw Benstud expand into NSW in 2018 leasing the prestigious Glenferrie Farm and later purchasing Lake Birubi, Crookwelli. Mark, Tracey and Craig's daughter Eilish together with Peter and Judy oversee the running of Victoria while Craig and his family run the NSW arm of the business.
Craig, Mark & Eilish are heavily involved in the weaning education, breaking in, pre-training and jogging-up of the horses on the well-appointed properties. The Benstud crew continue to produce some of the best prepared horses each year at the yearling sales and look forward to their new relationship with Nutrien Equine Standardbreds where their future champions will be sold going forward.
Benstuds comprehensive weanling process ensures the best opportunity for future champions and are becoming renown for poducing some of the best educated horses out of some of the best bred broodmares in Australasia.
"Buy-a-butterfly" is becoming synonymous with the Benstud brand as the family are huge supporters of the EB Foundation due to their personal connection with Craig & Renee's daughter Kendal suffering from EB.
The Judd’s are no ‘Johnny-come-lately’ name to this business.
In the ensuing years Benstud Standardbreds have been at the forefront in the yearling sales arena at both the Melbourne and Sydney Australian Pacing Gold sales and look forward to have a large presence going forward with Nutrien Equine.
